How does the Taxman know how much is in your bank account?

How does the Taxman know how much is in your bank account?
Are the banks required to disclose this information to HMRC? I regularly make deposits into a savings account from part time jobs, as I am a student. Am I required to disclose this for tax purposes?

Answer 1 :
yes you are obliged to disclose everything to the tax man. if suspicious the HMRC can access any records they please. If you are a student you should be exempt from paying tax - check that out first. i work for a payroll company and all my students don't pay tax good luck x

Answer 1 :
if you just do not use it for 4-5 months it will auto delete. that is what happend with one of mine from none use.
Answer 2 :
First, make very sure that is what you want to do, if you delete the account you can never get it back, or use that ID name, either. Any other yahoo programs associated with your mail account will also be deleted. If you are sure: Click on the help at the upper left corner of the screen from the account you want to delete. Help /Account and password /Your Account Info / How can I delete my account
Answer 3 :
Go here: https://edit.yahoo.com/config/delete_user Then do the following: -Login with your current username and password -Select which account that you want to delete -Enter in your password once again for verification purposes -Enter in the anti-spam code; this is to prevent automated submissions -Click Terminate This Account to finish off this process. Once you deleted your account, you can never open it back up again due to security reasons. By terminating your account, you will lose access to your entire Yahoo! ID. Everything stored in your account will be lost during the termination process. All this includes the following: -Mail -Address Book -Answers (your posted content will remain permanently archived) -Messenger -My Yahoo! -Groups -Alerts -Flickr -Any other area that is accessible with your username and password The only other alternative is to let your account lapse after 4 months of inactivity. Go here to read more about it: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/account/account-04.html

How long does a company have to take money from my account for goods delivered?

How long does a company have to take money from my account for goods delivered?
I ordered a cotbed matress and bedding set from a well known company online on the 3/4/07. All the items were delivered on the 20/4/07 but the money has not been billed from my credit card for the cotbed. I have had to cancel my credit card account for a separate reason but have kept hold of the money to pay for it should the company contact me. The cotbed order was fulfilled direct from the supplier and on my order details it says processing in warehouse. I signed for the item when it was delivered but have heard nothing since. I was just wondering how long they have got to claim the money from me?

Answer 1 :
You want to be careful here. A common method of fraud is to do what you have done and companies are wise to this (not suggesting you are fraudulent) When they get rejected by the credit card company they will probably go straight to a court or credit collection agent, this will involve you in extra cost and could affect your credit rating. My advice is for you to take the initiative and go to the company and explain. .
Answer 2 :
That's odd. Usually if you order online with a credit card, your card will be charged within a few days. If you are honest, you can contact the company's customer service department and ask if your payment has processed correctly. Otherwise you can take your chances and see if your payment goes into collections (will impact your credit history). There are no set rules on how long a company has to make payment claims on goods delivered. However, in some places a company usually has only up to 90 days to claim payment unless there are special circumstances. Just do the right thing and find out what's going on.
Answer 3 :
I had a similar experience with a company I placed an order with. It took 3-4 months for me.They will claim the money so hold on! You could try contacting the company to see if it is showing on their records as unpaid. (If they say it was paid, still hold on to the $$ as they will most likely discover their accounting error-as it did in my case) Remember, nothing is free!! They will come after the cash>
Answer 4 :
Can I add another question ? If you tell the company to collect payment, and after 6 months they still have not, are you then allowed to cancel the debit or payment and keep the item ?

How long does Natwest Cheque take to clear to another natwest account?

How long does Natwest Cheque take to clear to another natwest account?
Hi, My dad is writing a cheque for me tomorrow to pay my rent he and i both have natwest accounts. Only problem is Rent is due tomorrow. Will the cheque clear tomorrow because we have the same bank? If i cant have the money the same day i will have to go to a cheque cashing company. Does anyone know what i might need to take? Advice please.

Answer 1 :
a cheque will take 3 days but will be quicker if your dad phones online banking and its instant transfer within nat west.
Answer 2 :
Not sure, but if he has telephone banking he could call them up and get them to transfer the funds across instantly. That's usually how it works Barclays to Barclays I believe. I think cheques usually take longer to process. Call your bank and find out.
Answer 3 :
The rent will go through your account at around 9am tomorrow. That leaves very little time, if any, for even an electronic transfer. If you've got an overdraft, it'll hit that, or failing that, you will go overdrawn & incur bank charges, which you may not be able to claim back. Outgoings always go through your account BEFORE incoming transactions anyway.
Answer 4 :
It's normal for it to take the three working days - BUT - if you're in the same branch it MIGHT clear the same day ! Wouldn't it be easier for him to use a cash-machine and just give you the money ? For a cheque-cashing company, you'll need ID for yourself - AND they'll charge a fee (somewhere around 2% of the cheque ! So - if you cash a cheque for £100 - Yuo'll get £98 back !
Answer 5 :
As stated above by others.... It will be cashed within 1 working day, (same banks) but how do you know what time the rent is drawn ? if its DD then its done onces in the morning 10am ish then again a 3pm if the moneys not in then its a failed DD but if your late, and have not got a overdraft to cover the Rent amount i wouldnt risk it, natwest will charge you £35 fee for unpaid fee, then another £25 for being overdrawn, I still find it very hard to believe these banks are broke!
Answer 6 :
Write a cheque to pay your rent - that will certainly take 3 days to clear so by that time your Dad's cheque will be in the bank. Phone the NatWest to explain the situation so if there is any overlap they won't stiff you with overdraft charges - let banks know beforehand and they are generally reasonable.
Answer 7 :
Your dad would be much better doing a direct transfer to your account which will credit your account the same day. All he has to do is call Natwest telephone banking and give them his details and then your account number and sort code, the transfer is instant. Alternatively if he does online banking he can do it online under the 'payments' option.
