How can I restore a user account/documents folder after reinstalling Windows XP Home Edition?
There were 2 user accounts on my PC before a forced windows reinstall. Both were administrator. One is visible under documents and settings, and can be explored. The other (the one I need to restore or at least access) is saying 'access denied'. I have alot of important documents in this user account. How can I access it? I know the files are still there as they show up during virus scans.

you can try to open up your control panel . choose `Administrative tools . then select `Computor management , then `Local user and groups',. then click on user,, under groups... you shouls now have up all the details of who is administrator and who is users etc and , by right clicking on them you should be able to find out what their properties are set up as , and from there be able to change a setting or two. Of course you will need to know pevios passwords set to change admin rights .

You must have ownership of a protected folder in order to access it. you can access the folder by taking ownership. To take ownership of a folder: Right-click the folder that you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties. Click the Security tab, and then click OK on the Security message (if one appears). Click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab. In the Name list, click your user name, or click Administrator if you are logged in as Administrator, or click the Administrators group. If you want to take ownership of the contents of the folder, select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box. Click OK, and then click Yes when you receive the following message: You do not have permission to read the contents of directory folder name. Do you want to replace the directory permissions with permissions granting you Full Control? All permissions will be replaced if you click Yes. Note folder name is the name of the folder that you want to take ownership of. Click OK, and then reapply the permissions and security settings that you want for the folder and its contents. Hope this helps.
